World Physiotherapy Day 2025 - Longevity and Health

From OFI Romagna:

Saturday, September 13, 2025, Palazzo del Turismo Rimini. From 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM

On September 8th, World Physiotherapy Day is celebrated, promoted by World Physiotherapy, an organization that represents over 625,000 physiotherapists in more than 120 countries.

The 2025 theme is: “The role of physiotherapy and physical activity in active aging, with a focus on the prevention of frailty and falls”, which is of great importance in a context of increasing demographic aging.

According to the WHO, by 2050 the number of people over 60 years old will exceed 2 billion; in Europe, over 20% of the population is over 65, and in Italy, that figure is 24.1% (ISTAT 2024). The number of people over 80 will triple by 2050, leading to an increase in the years lived with frailty or disability.

In this scenario, physiotherapy – in collaboration with other healthcare professions – plays a fundamental role in promoting active aging, in supporting autonomy, and in improving people's quality of life.

To celebrate this occasion, the Orders of Physiotherapists of Emilia Romagna and A.I.FI ER are organizing the conference “Longevity and Health”, an event that, through presentations by expert professionals from various disciplines, will present and discuss innovations, updates, and research on the topic.

The DARE project will be presented within the talk “THE EARLY ASSESSMENT OF FALL RISK: GOAL OR MIRAGE?” delivered by Prof. Lorenzo Chiari.

The presentations will be followed by a round table to foster a discussion among citizens' and patients' associations, healthcare professionals, and institutions.

The initiative represents not only a celebratory moment, but above all an opportunity to strengthen the shared commitment to prevention and health promotion.

The event is open to both healthcare professionals and citizens.
